Stuck in the Mud

Kgalagadi 2016 accommodation summary

Kalahari Guest House, 50km north of Upington: Their bush camp was excellent. The bedroom area and shower and toilet were all easily accessible in a wheelchair. One fairly high step to get onto the deck of the hut but easily managed with a bit of assistance. The ground around the hut and in the braai boma is firm and flat. Highly recommended.

All the accommodation that we stayed in at Kgalagadi was wheelchair enabled. Information about all the camps as well as contact information for bookings can be found here.

Nossob Rest Camp: Quite a steep ramp getting into the chalet. Basic furnishings but clean and comfortable. They have built new riverfront cottages which are now available and which looked to be very well placed and attractive.

Kieliekrankie: Beautiful setting on the top of a hill among the red dunes. Once again quite a steep ramp to get to the chalet. Very nicely furnished and comfortable.

Kalahari Tented Camp: Beautiful setting and easily accessible with parking in front of the tent. The shower was a bit small but still accessible.

Twee Rivieren: The accommodation at Twee Rivieren was easily accessible. This was the only accommodation with air conditioning.

Blue Rain Guesthouse, Upington: Very comfortable room and nicely furnished. The toilet was small but accessible and the shower was in the bedroom, enclosed by a glass screen. A shower stool is needed for wheelchair users.
