Stuck in the Mud

Mana Pools & Kariba (2016)

Teri-Lemveli Lodge, Beaufort West: The room we were in was very comfortable and accessible in a wheelchair. The bathroom and toilet was also wheelchair accessible. I needed help to get up a very steep ramp to get to the room though. The lodge is in a convenient location outside Beaufort West. We self-catered.

Lavender Lodge, Vryburg: The stand-out overnight stop of our trip. The room (and bathroom and toilet) was wheelchair friendly and very comfortable. Very friendly and helpful owner and staff. We self-catered. Highly recommended.

Phokoje Bush Lodge, Selebi Phikwe: Nice rustic furnishings and a comfortable chalet. Very pleasant atmosphere with friendly and attentive staff. The toilet and bathroom (shower) was a bit cramped (but manageable with a squeeze) in a wheelchair. They have a very nice restaurant and verandah area.

Makuti Lodge, Makuti: The room and bathroom with toilet was spacious and accessible in a wheelchair. There was one high step getting into the room so assistance was needed to get in. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The staff were excellent and went out of their way to be helpful. Nice restaurant and outside verandah with beautiful views. The lodge is in a very convenient location for access to Mana Pools and Kariba.

Osprey Houseboat, Kariba: As described in our trip report. The houseboat has been built to accommodate wheelchairs. There is a ramp at the back of the boat for wheelchair access onto the tender boats. Highly recommended!

Lalapanzi Hotel, Louis Trichardt: Comfortable room with a large bathroom/toilet. All accessible in a wheelchair. The pub and restaurant were very pleasant.

Merino Inn, Colesberg: We were in a room that had recently been renovated. The room as well as bathroom/toilet were large and very accessible in a wheelchair. Nice pub and restaurant.
